Longing for the Sun is the story of Bulutsuzluk Özlemi, a band with cult status in Turkish-language rock music. Based on interviews with band members -including founders Nejat Yavaşoğulları and Sina Koloğlu- as well as others who took part in the group at various times, the film also incorporates valuable contributions from musicians and music writers of the era. Directed by Caner Kaya, Longing for the Sun is more than just the history of Bulutsuzluk Özlemi; it draws a portrait of Turkey, spanning from the late 1970s to the 2020s. The band’s dissident stance towards social events and political issues forms the central theme of this documentary.
