18+, Negative Example
Inspired by real events, this political story - in which İlker Çatak reimagines Berlin as Ankara, and Hamburg as Istanbul - emphasizes that the fragility of democracy in today’s world is not limited to specific countries. Aziz and Derya, a couple of theater artists who lost their jobs due to their politically charged posts, are not the idealistic couple one might expect to see in a political film. Throughout this ordeal, the privileges they come to realize only after losing everything drag them into a significant dilemma. “Drive a taxi, live with dignity” - sure, but for how long? Ultimately, the political tension between the social and the personal strikes at the nerve center of the family institution more than anything else.
