The expansion of oil and mining operations in the Ecuadorian Amazon is placing the forests and the Indigenous communities living there under increasing pressure. Forest Law follows legal battles in Ecuador over the rights of nature, focusing in particular on a case won by the Sarayaku people and their concept of the ‘living forest.’ The film by Swiss artist Ursula Biemann and Brazilian architect Paulo Tavares treats the forest not merely as an area to be protected, but as a living entity with rights of its own.
