Of Light Ghosts is a film about the Ebensee Bell Ringers’ Parade, which takes place every year on the evening of January 5 at Lake Traunsee in the Salzkammergut region. In the film, we follow the only group of women participating in this time-honored tradition.
“In Of Light Ghosts, I wanted to explore light and the movement of light - from candles, flashlights, fireworks, streetlamps, and bonfires to the moon and the Bell Ringers’ own lanterns. As I captured these women’s light on film, I wanted to focus my attention on their stories, their images, and their voices. To what is seen, what is unseen, what is lost - and to the traces that remain with us long after the film has ended…” Isabella Fellinger
