Classification: According to Article 7 of Law No. 5224, as amended on January 18, 2019, films that have not undergone evaluation and classification can only be shown at festivals, special screenings, and similar cultural and artistic events with an 18+ age restriction.
Fantastic Flowers is a compilation of short silent films produced between 1906 and 1920, and a restoration project focused on films colored via historic stencil printing techniques.
Today’s digital technologies make it possible to process each color separately within every single frame, bringing the original palettes back to life.
Featuring early-era films adorned with dazzling colors, this program aims to let today’s film enthusiasts experience exactly what audiences felt over a century ago.
The films in this compilation have been selected from various genres under the unified theme of "flowers." The documentary-style films depict the cultivation and everyday use of flowers in public parks and urban landscapes, while early cinema’s "illusion films" highlight vibrant flora and flower-patterned costumes.
Music curator and DJ Kornelia Binicewicz will accompany the screening with a live music performance.
