Şaban and Hatice, both in their 40s, live in rural Kosovo with their two daughters and extended family. Although they struggle to make ends meet and work very hard, they are content with their lives—until a dispute between Şaban and his brothers turns their world upside down. The family falls apart, and their economic foundation crumbles. The only option left for the couple is to move to Pristina with Şaban’s mother and their daughters. But building a new life in the city is far from easy. They try to stand on their own two feet through hard, honest work, but Şaban and Hatice face overwhelming pressure just to survive.
Director Visar Morina depicts how a hyper-capitalist system devours human dignity and the hope for a better life, setting his story against a tense atmosphere in which his characters become increasingly trapped.
